The Shoprite Group is seeking dynamic and ambitious individuals to join its Trainee Manager Programme. This programme offers comprehensive, hands-on experience in all facets of supermarket operations, leadership, and administration, with the goal of preparing individuals for a future role as a store manager.
Location: Velddrif and Surrounding Areas, Western Cape

Core Responsibilities
Participants in the programme will engage in a rotational training structure, covering key areas of supermarket management. Responsibilities include:
Operational Management: Gaining hands-on experience across all departments to ensure seamless store operations.
Customer Experience: Actively managing customer engagement to guarantee a high standard of service and satisfaction.
Team Leadership: Developing skills in staff coaching, leadership, and performance management to build a high-performing team.
Financial Oversight: Contributing to financial management, including profit and loss (P&L) reporting and expense control.
Inventory & Merchandising: Overseeing stock levels, rotation, merchandising, promotional execution, and loss prevention.
Compliance & Safety: Ensuring adherence to food safety, hygiene, and occupational health and safety (OHSA) regulations.
Standards of Excellence: Maintaining and elevating operational standards and service excellence throughout the store.
Candidate Requirements
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
Minimum Qualifications: A Matric / Grade 12 certificate or equivalent is essential. A tertiary qualification in Retail or a related field is considered an advantage.
Required Experience: A minimum of one year of retail experience is essential, with a preference for experience within a supermarket environment. Prior exposure to the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector and familiarity with supermarket systems is highly desirable.
Key Skills: Applicants should possess strong computer literacy (basic MS Office and retail systems), a solid understanding of store operations, stock handling, and merchandising. Essential competencies also include knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and OHSA requirements, as well as strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
